Welcome to
Rotovator-Cultivator.co.uk!
In 1912 Arthur Clifford Howard invented the rotovator cultivator in
Australia. His earliest designs threw the tilled soil sideways, until he improved his invention by designing
an L-shaped blade mounted on widely spaced flanges fixed to a small-diameter rotor. With fellow apprentice Everard
McCleary, he established a company to make his machine, but plans were interrupted by World War I. In 1919
Howard returned to Australia and resumed his design work, patenting a design with 5 rotary hoe cultivator blades
and an internal combustion engine, in 1920.
A rotovator cultivator tiller is a motorized cultivator that works the soil by
means of rotating tines or blades. The slower the tiller moves forward the more soil tilth can be
obtained.
Rotovator cultivator tillers makes possible the chore of cultivating the ground
without doing it manually. Today we do not have to break our backs doing this job and creating blisters all
over our hands. And of coarse a rotovator can do the job in short order compared to doing it manually and
taking hours and hours.
Before purchasing a rotovator cultivator tiller, you should ask yourself how often
will you be using it. If you only need it one time a year, it would probably be more cost effective to rent
one each year. But with renting a one you will be locked into a certain day and certain time of day to use it
which will press you to get the job done quickly. If you need a tiller cultivator year after year, you
would save money if you just purchased one now. If you decide next year to expand your garden, you will have
the equipment to get the job done. Another ideal you may want to think about is going in with a neighbor and
purchase one together, this will hold down the cost of purchasing a tiller.
